***BUY ALL THE AMAZING ART HERE and HELP FREE Black Mama's and Caregivers for the HOLIDAYS!***
The People’s Paper Co-op is a women led, women focused, women powered art and advocacy project at the Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia. The PPC looks to women in reentry as the leading criminal justice experts our society needs to hear from and uses art to amplify their stories, dreams, and visions for a more just and free world.

Since 2018, the People’s Paper Co-op has collaborated with the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund on their annual Mama's Day Bail Out campaign. Each year we organize exhibitions, parades, press conferences, and events to raise awareness and funds for the campaign ,while sharing the stories, dreams, and demands of formerly incarcerated women with thousands of Philadelphians.  Our poster and t-shirt sales have raised over $180,000 to free Black mothers and caregivers for Mother’s Day!

Amidst this public health crisis, in our third year of collaborating on the campaign to #ENDCashBail, it has become clear that the work is more important and urgently needed than ever. We need your help to get folks to safety, buy the women's beautiful art and help #FreeOurMamas #FreeOurSisters #FreeOurQueens !!!!

Why did you want to participate in this project? Because mass incarceration is the greatest crime our society is currently committing.

When people hold your poster, what do you want them to think, feel, and do?

I want people to think they are looking at a queen, and no woman so regal, strong and beautiful should ever be locked in a cage

Why did you want to participate in this project? I wanted to participate in this project because as a mom I can’t imagine being forced to be away from my child.
When people hold your poster, what do you want them to think, feel, and do?
In my poster, I wanted to convey the message that we need each other, we need community, in order to make the fundamental transformations necessary in our society. The women behind “Mama’s Day Bail Out” have organized something powerful and transformative, showing we do “have the power to transform our world,” but “we can’t do it alone.”

Why did you want to participate in this project? Here to manifest a future when no mommas are in any jail!
When people hold your poster, what do you want them to think, feel, and do? I want them to think about how they can be part of ending our reliance on prison, to feel a commitment to abolition and to invest in restorative justice in their community.

Why did you want to participate in this project? I want society to see and hear from the mothers that end up behind bars because of lack of resources. I believe that law enforcement is too aggressive on women that have non-violent offences and are cyclically experiencing poverty - because they aren’t able to make bail. It’s unnerving to learn that women who come into the criminal justice system are also usually living on the margins and are more likely than men to be victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence. I believe that these women may be better served by drug treatment or mental health counseling than prison sentences that can shatter already fragile families.
When people hold your poster, what do you want them to think, feel, and do? I want everyone viewing my posters to feel inclined to fight to ensure that the criminal justice system treats women fairly, protects their health, offers more resources, and facilitates a successful reentry into their communities. I want people to donate money to bail out black mothers and caregivers for mother's day.
